RYDA on my RADAR - VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDEDYouth Service, 21/01/2008
It is the start of new year and almost the start of a new RYDA program at the Honda Facility at St Ives. The first schools start arriving in early February and will continue arriving almost daily until the end of May.
This is a mammoth scheduling task which is very ably run by Cathy Sherwood of Beecroft Rotary club. But for her hard work to be successfully applied she needs volunteers on site. Clubs will of course be contacted to help on days that there local schools are attending at Honda at St. Ives. So please respond generously when asked to help Cathy desperately needs help putting together folders that are handed out to the students that attend RYDA at St Ives. These folders contain educational material for every student. After discussion with DG Monica, it has been suggested that the clubs become involved with this. It takes about 1 hour with three people to assemble 150 of these folders. It is planned to deliver these folders to clubs at the next Presidents meeting in February. Every day needs two Day Coordinators. Currently this role is almost exclusively filled by a couple of Rotarians from Beecroft club. This role would involve one day a week or fortnight for 17 weeks of the year. If you can help for just a few weeks it would assist Beecroft members. The hours are from 8.30 till 2 pm. Our district RYDA program also needs volunteers to be a buddy to our Brain Injury speakers. This would be from 11am till 2pm once a week. It is very easy and rewarding work. As this years theme says ROTARY SHARES. Think about sharing the work load with Beecroft. To do this just contact Cathy on cmanddsherwood AT bigpond.com.au or mobile 0419 274 959 Happy New year.
