Countdown to Christmas

President's Piece, 19/12/2009

It's Saturday morning 19th December, the day before our big Rotary Carols. I better do the newsletter now, otherwise there is no other opportunity! There is always the last minute logistic items that need to be attended to and also the hope that the rain stays away for this once a year event. I have been given this responsibility every year to pray for the rain to stay away, and so far the Gods have been good to me! at least my credibility here remains high when it comes to negotiating the weather with the almighty one.

We have a good strong working team this year for the Carols, combined with North Ryde Rotary we should have over 40 people helping with setting up stalls, BBQing and cleaning up afterwards, which is always a mamoth job. We are all left weary & tired but it is worth it after seeing what is raised for ROMAC and other Community Projects.

I will update you on the post carols in the next bulletin. At last meeting the Eastwood Chamber President Peter Sullivan and Secretary Trina Mosley presented our Club with a cheque for $3510.00 being the funds raised at our combined Variety night which was held at the Ryde Eastwood leagues Club. Together with our Rotary Club we did a joint effort here to raise money for the school flashing lights project and this will go straight to the project and provide another school with the safety lights.

We also held our AGM and I am pleased to say that we have some great new blood on our team next year. Well done Ross, This is very healthy for our Club as it encourages new ideas and more growth. With a strong membership growth, we certainly are going in the right direction.

This tuesday will be our final meeting for the year and we will have a special Christmas breakfast which will be organised by our great Vogue Cafe management. If you would like to attend please come and visit us. We resume back on January 19th.

I think time is ticking by and I need to attend to some more Rotary Carols items,Unfortunately my hard drive on my working computer failed  and some of the Carol items I had worked on went with it as well, the joys of technology! we just have to keep smiling

see you tuesday morning
