President's Piece, 28/06/2009

This week we hold our meeting on tuesday, and again thanks to Vogue cafe for providing a delicious breakfast and great ambience!. We just love our breakfast meeting don't we!

I attended the North Ryde Rotary Changeover Dinner on Friday night, and congratulations to Phil Isaacs who was presented with a sapphire pin for his great work over the years in Rotary. This was long overdue, as he really has a big heart, congratulations President Phil!

On saturday I performed at my show 'Italy down under" and the raffle that our club organised for "Amara" the 1 year old who suffers from cerebal Palsy, went off to a good start. The raffle raised $700.00, which will be a great boost towards the families plight for a wheelchair. We will present this chq to the family, in the next few weeks at one of our meetings. The picture below  the President of the  Putney Bowling Club, John McWilliam, who supported our cause, the club donated some prizes for the raffle as well. Thanks to Karen from Lady Ann funerals, Angela Bonner from the Weekly Times and Lydia Scuglia President of the Eastwood Chamber who help sell the tickets for us.

.

Our guest speaker last Friday, Sally Townsend from the skin cancer council gave a very informative talk on sun exposure, sunscreens and being more careful in getting your moles checked. Thanks to Praveen who has been getting us some great speakers. This Tuesday we  have Ben Jackson from the Lupus foundation to speak to us.

See you all Tuesday at breakfast
