North West BEN is ‘desperately seeking placements’ for IT students in August (for 1 week per student).

These students do not have to work in IT industries but just be using a variety of applications – spreadsheets, data bases, Word, PowerPoint etc.  The tasks can be dummy tasks if necessary  though they should not know that.  They are treated as young employees for the week so the usual expectations are placed on them as far as time management, dress, communication etc goes. They are covered by insurance and if they are not satisfactory can be sent back to school but they are considered ‘Work Ready’ by the schools. 

 

We have requests from Epping Boys and Marist College as well as Holy Cross for the August period and are finding it harder this year to get them a place.  As this is a mandatory part of the Vocational (TAFE) course in NSW we would love to hear of any support you can offer.

 

They are usually great students and can be valuable in developing for example, PowerPoint presentations and so on as they come with a fresh look at your organisation.
